The iPhone 16 series is equipped with the new proprietary A18 processor, and the Pro models are equipped with the A18 Pro. Both chips are identical, but the A18 Pro has a 6-core GPU, while the A18 has a 5-core GPU. Reviews of the iPhone 16 Pro series have not yet been published, so we do not yet know the detailed performance, but the estimated benchmark results have already been published.
The regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max have reportedly been spotted on Geekbench, giving us an idea of how fast the new A18 chips are.
iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro Max: Geekbench resultsThe regular iPhone 16 was first spotted on Geekbench with the model number “iPhone17.3”, which according to previous leaks is the ID of the iPhone 16 series.
On Geekbench, the iPhone 16 scored 3,114 points in the single-core test and 6,666 points in the multi-core test. Compared to the A16 Bionic iPhone 15, the single-core result is decent, but the multi-core result is not impressive.
- The iPhone 15 scored 2,595 points in the single-core test and 6,651 points in the multi-core test. So if we talk about performance improvement, the difference will be smaller with multi-core.
- The iPhone 16 Pro Max’s Geekbench scores were better, with a single-core score of 3,409 and a multi-core score of 8,492. Initial Geekbench results for the iPhone 15 Pro Max showed a single-core score of 2,846 and a multi-core score of 7,024.
- The results clearly show a significant performance improvement, at least in Geekbench.
The iPhone 16 Geekbench results are surprising: the A18 is 30 percent faster than the Apple A16 Bionic, and the GPU is 40 percent faster. I look forward to further tests for greater clarity. The processor of the A18 Pro chip, which powers the iPhone 16 Pro models, is 15 percent faster and the GPU is 20 percent faster than the A17 Pro.
Since these are early tests, we have to wait for more accurate test results. The iPhone 16 series was launched in India. Pre-orders start on September 13th and sales start on September 20th.
