Bollywood diva Sonakshi Sinha recently tied the knot with fiancé Zaheer Iqbal. While there were rumours that her choice of partner created a rift between her and her family, such speculations were mostly put to rest when her father, veteran actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, and wife Poonam were seen at her wedding and reception. Sinha Sr gave the newlyweds his blessings.

However, Sonakshi’s brother Luv was missing both at the wedding as well as the post-wedding festivities. Many of his responsibilities were performed by her friend, Saqib Saleem.

Earlier, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, Luv had evaded the question. On Sunday, he revealed that the decision to not attend the event was a personal one. “Why I chose not to attend. Running an online campaign against me on a false premise won’t change the fact that for me my family will always come first,” he wrote on X

Luv Lashes Out At Zaheer Iqbal's Family

Luv accused his brother-in-law’s family of engaging in dubious business practices. He accused them of helping a politician escape accusations of financial fraud. He also claimed that Iqbal’s father had shady business dealings in Dubai.

Referring to a passage in the report by The Telegraph, he wrote, "With carefully curated news stories about his family business, nobody treads grey areas like the groom’s father’s proximity to a politician whose ED inquiries had vanished in the “washing machine”. Nor was there a whiff of the groom’s father’s stint in Dubai, which was rumoured to have ended rather abruptly. Was there the hand of a superstar who had connections at the highest level in the UAE?” he wrote.

Luv maintained that he was not regretful for giving his sister’s wedding, a miss. “The reasons are very clear as to why I didn’t attend, and would not associate with some people no matter what. I’m glad a member of the media did their research instead of relying on creative stories being put out by a PR team, ” he wrote.

Sonakshi and Zaheer exchanged vows through a civil ceremony on June 23. Later they held a reception at Bastian, Mumbai. Prior to the wedding, they had been dating for seven years. Zaheer starred opposite Sonakshi in the 2022 movie ‘Double XL’.
