JAIPUR, April 13 With the recent spell of storms and showers losing momentum, Rajasthan is once again witnessing a sharp rise in temperatures. On Sunday, Barmer emerged as the hottest city, recording a searing 44°C, while a total of nine cities in the state reported temperatures above the 40-degree mark. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warns of an approaching heatwave and anticipates another round of weather activity later this week.
Heatwave to Intensify Across Western Rajasthan from April 14According to IMD Director Radheshyam Sharma, the weather across Rajasthan is expected to remain mostly dry over the next 4–5 days, accompanied by a 3–5°C rise in maximum temperatures. A new phase of heatwave is likely to begin in western Rajasthan from April 14, intensifying further on April 15 and 16.
Districts in the Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Shekhawati regions are forecast to face moderate to severe heatwave conditions, especially in the border areas where temperatures could soar to 45–46°C.
Mild Relief Ahead: Rain and Thunderstorm Forecast for April 17–18Despite the rising mercury, a weak Western Disturbance is expected to impact eastern Rajasthan on April 17 and 18, bringing isolated thunderstorms and light to moderate rain. On Saturday, parts of the state experienced light showers, with Bamanwas in Sawai Madhopur receiving the highest rainfall at 16 mm. Humidity levels across the state ranged between 16% and 78%, reflecting variable moisture in the atmosphere.
Jaipur Sees Slight Dip, But Temperatures Set to Rise AgainIn Jaipur, post-storm conditions led to a slight drop in daytime temperatures on Sunday. The city recorded a maximum of 37.1°C and a minimum of 21.8°C, reflecting a marginal 0.1°C dip compared to Saturday. However, with clear skies returning, the temperature in the state capital is expected to climb again in the coming days.
