Unfolding Details in Jyoti's Suicide Case

In the tragic suicide case of Jyoti, a student at Sharda University in Greater Noida, new revelations are emerging. The police have discovered a diary belonging to Jyoti in her hostel room. According to her friends, the diary contains a detailed account of her experiences of harassment. Upon reviewing the diary, authorities found that Jyoti mentioned being reprimanded by a professor regarding her long hair, who suggested she should cut it. Jyoti complied with this request.

Friends of Jyoti reported that the professor frequently made derogatory remarks towards her, subjecting her to various forms of torment. They expressed disbelief that anyone could endure such treatment. The police have sent the diary for further investigation, and it is anticipated that this could lead to significant developments in the case. Currently, the local police have filed a case against seven individuals, including the dean, and have arrested two professors, with further actions pending.

Jyoti's Father Meets with University Officials

Ramesh Jangra, Jyoti's father from Gurugram, shared that his daughter had previously lodged complaints about harassment from university faculty. He visited the university on Monday at her request and had discussions with the dean and the head of the department, who assured him that such incidents would not occur again. Despite this, Jyoti continued to face distress and harassment, leading her to take this drastic step.

Contents of Jyoti's Suicide Note

In her suicide note, Jyoti stated that if she were to die, the teachers of PCP and Dental Materials would be responsible. She specifically named Mahendra Sir and Sairi Ma'am, expressing her desire for them to face consequences for the mental anguish they caused her. Jyoti mentioned that she had been suffering from depression due to their actions and expressed her inability to continue living under such circumstances.

Students Raise Serious Allegations

Following this incident, students at Sharda University protested vigorously on campus. They claimed that for four hours after the incident, no one was informed, during which time Jyoti's body had already begun to show signs of distress. Allegations from her family suggest that university staff mishandled her body, wrapping it in a bedsheet and transporting it to the hospital without proper care. Jyoti's father included these details in the FIR, while her mother, Sunita, pointed out that two other students had previously committed suicide without any action being taken.

University Chancellor's Statement

P.K. Gupta, the chancellor of Sharda University, stated that an internal investigation is underway at the university level. He mentioned that the dean informed them that Jyoti had allegedly forged a professor's signature on a test paper, which led to her being reprimanded, and her family was notified about this issue. He assured that the college administration would fully cooperate with the police in their investigation.
