Udupi: In connection with a habeas corpus petition filed at the Karnataka High Court over the alleged abduction of a young woman, Zeena Meril and her partner Akram appeared before the court on Friday.
The case dates back to March 20, when Zeena Meril’s parents lodged a complaint at the Udupi Town Police Station, alleging that Akram had kidnapped their daughter. A habeas corpus petition was later filed by her parents at the High Court on March 28. Following this, the court had directed both individuals to appear on April 4.
During the hearing, Zeena informed the court that no one had kidnapped her and that she had left with Akram on her own. She also declined to return with her mother.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for April 22.
