Who is New York's Dr Jay Varma who attended sex parties while preaching Covid social distancing?

The epidemiologist who was in charge of New York City's response to Covid pandemic, Dr Jay Varma , participated in sex parties underneath a Wall Street bank during the pandemic when professionally he was preaching social distancing. New York Times reported that the doctor acknowledged this almost in a boastful manner without knowing that he was being recorded on a hidden cameras. And there are more than one of the such videos where he described his sexual escapades as the city was reeling under the pandemic.

Dr Jay Varma was the former senior advisor for public health in the office of NYC mayor.


In the videos, he said he had to be "kind of sneaky about it" as he was running the entire Covid response for the city. "We rented a hotel...we all took like, you know..(MDMA)...8 to 10 of us were in a room...like just being naked with friends..."


“I did all this deviant, sexual stuff while I was you know, like on TV and stuff…”

In one of the video, he mentioned that his wife was also there with him in these underground sex parties.



“The only way I could do this job for the city was if I had some way to blow off steam every now and then.”

In a statement to NYT, Dr Varma said the recordings were not fake but they were "spliced, diced and taken out of context" but he confirmed that he attended three gatherings between August 2020 and June 2021.

Jay Varma is now serving as the executive vice president and chief medical officer of SIGA technologies. An alum of Harvard University and the University of California, Varma joined the Center for Disease Control's Epidemic Intelligence Service in 2001. He led a CDC study on E. coli outbreak at an Ohio country fair. During the Covid pandemic, he became the mayor's senior advisor for public health.
