Donald Trump's former chief of staff Mick Mulvaney commented on former NSA John Bolton's opinions regarding tomorrow's meeting between President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska, and said Bolton would say anything to make President Trump look bad because he "really, really hates" Trump. The former NSA assumed significance after the administration announced that Trump would meet Putin in Alaska as the last time they met in Finland, in 2018, Bolton was there with Trump.
After Alaska was announced as the summit spot, Bolton expressed his opinion on several news channels, social media, newspapers and, to summarize, he called the Alaska summit an advantage for Putin. He said Putin being welcomed to America is a step towards his victory and Trump has offered the first victory to him. His photo of shaking hands with Trump would be on the front page of every newspaper, and he kept Ukraine and European countries out of the meeting in a real victory, Bolton said.
Trump reacted to the media coverage of Bolton's statement and criticized the media coverage on him while Bolton continued to justify that the summit could have taken place outside the US -- in Austria or Vienna so that the US did not have to host Putin. Bolton also said that the summit was fianlized in haste by Steve Witkoff as if Witkoff did not know Putin at all.
"Very unfair media is at work on my meeting with Putin. Constantly quoting fired losers and really dumb people like John Bolton, who just said that, even though the meeting is on American soil, 'Putin has already won.' What’s that all about? We are winning on EVERYTHING," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Appearing on Bill O'Reilly's No Spin News, Mulvaney said: "I know Bolton. Bolton would say anything to make President Trump look bad. I don't know if it makes him a traitor, a miscreant or just an idiot. But he really, really hates the president. Trump Derangement Syndrome is a real thing!"
Reacting to Trump taking his name on his Truth Social post, Bolton said he's glad that he's still on his mind but Trump must recognize the fact that they jumped too soon to the Alaska meeting. Trump, on the other hand, said there could be a second meeting after the stage is set at the first meeting.
