Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg expressed her concerns about the upcoming US presidential election on social media platform X and called former US President Donald Trump the "more dangerous" option.
"There is no doubt that one of the candidates Trump is way more dangerous than the other," Thunberg said, identifying Donald Trump as the greater risk among the candidates.
However, she directed criticism at the current administration of President Biden and Vice President Harris regarding their position on the Israel-Gaza conflict .
"Let's not forget that the genocide in Palestine is happening under the Biden and Harris administration, with American money and complicity," she noted, adding, "It is not in any way 'feminist', 'progressive' or 'humanitarian' to bomb innocent children and civilians it is the opposite, even if it is a woman in charge."
The ongoing conflict began with Hamas's October 7 attack on Israel, resulting in 1,206 deaths, primarily civilians, according to AFP's compilation of Israeli official data. Israel's military response has caused at least 43,259 Palestinian casualties in Gaza, mostly civilians, based on the Hamas-run health ministry's figures, which the UN considers reliable.
Thunberg called on American voters to engage beyond voting, encouraging participation in protests and boycotts against what she termed "catastrophic consequences of American imperialism ."
She concluded her message by saying, "My main message to Americans is to remember that you cannot only settle for the least worst option."
