GORAKHPUR/LUCKNOW: In a statement that evoked polarising reactions, UP CM Yogi Adityanath Saturday said, " Gyanvapi is embodiment of Lord Vishwanath... unfortunately some people call it a mosque ." The statement came a day after a Varanasi court rejected a petition filed by the Hindu side seeking repair of Vyas ji basement in the Gyanvapi complex.
While BJP state spokesperson Manish Shukla said, "Historic, archaeological and spiritual evidence categorically indicate that Gyanvapi is a temple "; SP spokesperson Abbas Haidar said, "The matter is pending in court. It is unfortunate that the CM who has taken oath of the Constitution, is not giving due respect to the court..."
