NEW DELHI: AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi was praised by Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy for his advocacy on behalf of the poor and marginalised sections of society on Saturday. Speaking at the book launch of 'Prophet for the World' by Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, Reddy acknowledged the importance of a strong opposition in maintaining a balanced and effective government.

“The Bhagavad Gita, Quran, and Bible preach only peace in the world. The sacred scriptures of all religions spread the message of the welfare of all... It is a matter of pride that the President of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board hails from this region,” said Reddy, referring to Rahmani. He also expressed his appreciation for Owaisi, saying, “Asaduddin Owaisi criticised the Congress government sometimes. A good opposition will help the government to work efficiently. The count of leaders has gone down to speak on behalf of poorer sections in the Parliament. Asaduddin Owaisi is one among a few who raise the voice for the poor.”

Reddy recently requested urgent financial assistance from the Union Government for the flood-hit areas of Telangana. The state has suffered major damage due to heavy rains, and Reddy has urged the central government to provide relief without imposing strict conditions.

The CM also pointed out that the state government was struggling to utilise the Rs 1,350 crore available in NDRF funds due to restrictive guidelines. He added, “It would not be possible to take up even temporary repairs of the damaged roads with such meagre charges for repairs fixed by the centre.”
