Rahul enjoyed power without responsibility, says Thakur

Send Push
NEW DELHI: BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Monday listed several economic achievements of the NDA govt in the past 10 years and took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi , saying he was enjoying power without responsibility till he became leader of opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha.

Initiating the discussion on the motion of thanks on the Prez's address, Thakur said the Lok Sabha elections have kept those against the Constitution in the opposition benches for the third time.

While congratulating Rahul on becoming LoP, Thakur said the Congress functionary now has power with responsibility and "absentee landlordism will not work".

Thakur asserted this in an "agni-pariksha" for the Congress functionary now. "Will he sit in Lok Sabha all day?... He is not there (even) now," he added.

Rahul was not in the House when Thakur made the remarks and there were protests from opposition members.

He threw a challenge at opposition MPs asking them how many pages are there in the Indian Constitution and saying that they did not even bother to read it but waved it around.
