NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday will release the 18th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi ( PM-KISAN ) scheme worth over Rs 20,000 during an event in Maharashtra 's Washim.

The amount will be directly transferred to more than 9.4 crore farmers across the nation through Direct Benefit Transfer , according to the ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.

The PM-KISAN was launched in February 2019 which provides landholding farmers with an annual financial benefit of Rs 6,000, paid in three equal instalments.

The total amount disbursed under the scheme after the release of this installment will exceed Rs 3.45 lakh crore, benefiting over 11 crore farmers nationwide. In Maharashtra alone, around 1.20 crore farmers have received Rs 32,000 crore, and in this latest instalment, approximately 91.51 lakh farmers will receive over Rs 1,900 crore.

The event, named PM-KISAN Utsav Divas, will be celebrated throughout India, with approximately 2.5 crore farmers participating via webcasts from 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), one lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and five lakh Common Service Centres.

Prime Minister Modi will also distribute an additional Rs 2,000 crore to farmers in Maharashtra under the fifth instalment of the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana.

Additionally, PM Modi will dedicate several projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) that have been completed within the first 100 days of the new government.

Launched in 2020, the AIF provides medium- to long-term financing to enhance post-harvest management and community farming infrastructure. Nationwide, over 10,066 projects have been sanctioned, with more than 7,500 projects already completed.

This event will also benefit Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) across the nation. PM Modi, during the event, will dedicate approximately 9,200 FPOs established under a Central Sector Scheme (CSS) with the goal of creating 10,000 FPOs throughout the country.

These FPOs currently support 24 lakh farmers, including 8.3 lakh women and 5.77 lakh SC and ST beneficiaries, and have a combined annual turnover of Rs 1,300 crore. The initiative aims to improve the livelihoods of small, marginal, and landless farmers by enhancing market access and strengthening value chains.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will introduce new measures to boost the dairy farming sector and will also carryout the e-Distribution of Letters of Award for 3,000 MW under the KUSUM-C (MSKVY 2.0) scheme, which focuses on promoting solar energy for agricultural purposes.

As part of this initiative, five solar parks with a total capacity of 19 MW will be inaugurated in Dhondalgaon, Bamni Bk., Kondgiri, Jalalabad, and Palshi Bk. These parks will not only provide farmers with daytime electricity but also enable them to generate additional income by leasing land for solar installations, thereby improving energy access and financial stability for the agricultural community.
