NEW DELHI: India briefed several leading countries, including US, Russia, UK, and Saudi Arabia about " Operation Sindoor " launched by Indian Army against terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, early Wednesday.
"Senior Indian officials have spoken to their counterparts in a number of countries to brief them on the steps taken by India," news agency PTI said quoting sources.
"Among these are the US, the UK, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Russia," it added. The strikes were in response to the Pahalgam terror attack .
India's response came two weeks after the Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 people and drew strong criticism from around the world.
Indian military forces launched strikes at nine sites in Pakistan calling it "focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature."
"Justice is Served. Jai Hind!' the Indian Army said in a post on X.
"A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched 'OPERATION SINDOOR', hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed," the defence ministry said in a statement.
"These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered," it added.
This comes on the day the ministry of home affairs announced plans for a nationwide civil defence mock drill scheduled for May 7.
