West Bengal governor CV Ananda Bose, on Thursday, said that he will socially boycott chief minister Mamata Banerjee and will not appear with her at any public events in view of people's outcry over the RG Kar hospital impasse.

"I will not be sharing any public platform with the chief minister. I will take proactive steps against her for violating Constitutional provisions. My role as the Governor will be confined to the Constitutional obligations. I stand committed to the people of Bengal. I reiterated my commitment to the parents of the victim of RG Kar and also to those who are demonstrating for justice. In my assessment, the government has failed in its duties," said Bose.

Bose also criticized the chief minister Banerjee regarding the prevailing law and order situation in West Bengal and even called her “Lady Macbeth of Bengal".

Additionally, governor Bose expressed his disappointment over the state government's failure to act on his recommendation to take action against Kolkata Police commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal. He expressed grave concerns over commissioner Goyal's handling of the case, suggesting that his actions were highly questionable and could be classified as a form of "criminal activity" that warrants legal consequences.

Mamata Banerjee offers to resign
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday offered to resign as the standoff with protesting junior doctors over the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case continued.

"For people's sake, I am ready to resign. I am not concerned about the post. I want justice, I am only concerned about justice getting served," CM Mamata Banerjee said while addressing the media on the deadlock with the doctors.

"I also apologise to the people of Bengal who expected the impasse to end today," the CM said.

"27 people have died, 7 lakh patients are suffering because of junior doctors' cease work. I tried thrice to hold talks. We have been waiting for over two hours to meet our doctor brothers and sister who were invited here. We wrote them a letter and they wrote us back assuring that they will come... Only after receiving their confirmation, we invited them but it's been two hours and there is no communication from them yet. We asked them to come with an open mind and talk about any issue. Solutions can only be found through dialogues," said Banerjee after a meeting with the delegation of protesting doctor was called off at the last moment over demand of live telecast.
