MEERUT: A brick kiln owner from Ghaziabad was kidnapped and murdered in Sivaya village in Meerut. The body was buried in a pit near the RRTS yard being built behind the village.

The incident came to light when Yogendra alias Golu (24) was reported missing after he didn't return home from work. His father Devendra said, "My son used to run DK Traders on Sikrod Road in Daurala region of Meerut. On May 1, he closed the office and left for home, but did not reach home."

During the investigation, a suspect named Vikas Kumar, a friend of Yogendra, emerged and whom he had met last. The family revealed that Kumar owed Rs 40,000 to Yogendra and was not paying it which eventually became the motive for murder . After intense interrogation, Kumar broke down and confessed to his involvement in the kidnapping and murder.

Rohit Sajwan, SSP of Meerut, said, "The accused booked a taxi, incapacitated Yogendra, and brought him to Siwaya, where he committed the crime and buried the body in a shallow pit. Ghaziabad police recovered the body on Saturday."
