JAMMU: BSF director-general Daljit Singh Chawdhary , during his visit to Jammu Frontier on Thursday, announced that the border posts , where BSF SI Mohammad Imteyaj and Constable Deepak Chingakham laid down their lives, would be named after them. DG Chawdhary paid floral tributes to both martyrs — killed in cross-border firing in Jammu’s RS Pura sector on May 10 — at Amar Prahari Memorial at the BSF HQ in Paloura, Jammu. He also lauded the forces for their invaluable contribution to Operation Sindoor .
DG Chawdhary said the duo had made the “highest sacrifice” to protect the country. “To pay tribute to their valour, BSF decided that the posts where they were martyred would be named after them,” he said, adding that it has always been a tradition of the force to remember the sacrifice of martyrs.
Later, DG Chawdhary held a review meeting of the security situation at the BSF HQ in Jammu to discuss the current security scenario and arrangements along the international border. He also interacted with the troopers and appreciated their role in Operation Sindoor. Chawdhary reaffirmed the crucial role of the force in safeguarding the nation’s borders under the most challenging circumstances.
