Bijapur Constituency of Karnataka Lok Sabha Election 2024: Date of voting, result, candidates list, main parties, schedule

NEW DELHI: Bijapur, one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes. The constituency is set to go to polls on May 7 (Phase 3) this year, with the results to be announced on June 4.

As a political powerhouse, Bijapur Lok Sabha Constituency holds significant influence in Indian politics and reflects the diverse demographic of Karnataka. Among the prominent candidates vying for the seat are Ramesh Jigajinagi from the Bharatiya Janata Party and H R Algur (Raju) from the Indian National Congress.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Jigajinagi Ramesh Chandappa of the BJP emerged victorious in the Bijapur constituency , securing 635,867 votes. Dr Sunita Devanand Chavan from JD(S) secured 377,829 votes, with the total number of votes cast in the constituency being 1,112,493.

BJP's Ramesh Jigajinagi had previously won the Bijapur seat, defeating his closest rival, INC's Prakash Rathod, by a margin of over 69,819 votes.
