TIRUPATI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday promised to the people of Andhra Pradesh that the Polavaram project , considered the lifeline of the state, will be completed within a span of two years, if they elect the NDA govts both in AP and at the centre.

Addressing his maiden election rally along with TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu at Dharmavaram in Sri Sathya Sai district, Amit Shah explained to the people that the BJP , Jana Sena and the TDP formed an alliance in Andhra Pradesh to fight against “corruption, crime, mafia and conversions”.

Launching a direct attack on chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Amit Shah said the Polavaram project was dragging on and couldn’t be completed even after being declared a national project by the BJP led NDA govt, purely because of Jagan’s “greed and corruption”.

Amit Shah also underlined that the NDA alliance will re-establish Amaravati as the state capital and restore its lost glory in the next five years.

“In the immediate aftermath of the bifurcation of the state, when Chandrababu Naidu was part of the NDA alliance, the divided state of Andhra Pradesh witnessed comprehensive development. But after Jagan Reddy came to power, development has been completely derailed, there are no new investments to the state and there is widespread unemployment everywhere”, Amit Shah alleged.

Accusing the CM of pushing the state into a vicious debt trap by indiscriminate borrowing which has skyrocketed to Rs.13.5 lakh crore in the last five years, the union Home minister slammed the Jagan Reddy govt for “pledging support to the land grabbing mafia”.

Pointing out that Jagan Reddy, who promised to enforce prohibition on liquor, has actually ended up in opening up his own liquor syndicate, Amit Shah accused the CM of derailing the healthcare system in the state by stopping payments to the network hospitals linked to Arogyasri.

“The NDA alliance will no longer tolerate the rampant corruption and land grabbing acts of the Jagan Reddy govt. This alliance will also not let Jagan Reddy destroy the Telugu language by promoting English as the only medium of language at schools”, Amit Shah underlined.

Accusing the Jagan Reddy govt of promoting conversions in the state, Amit Shah said the NDA alliance will also relentlessly strive to preserve the sanctity of the world renowned Tirupati Balaji shrine.

“When the Ayodhya Ram mandir was getting inaugurated, invites were sent to everyone including Rahul Gandhi and Jagan Mohan Reddy. But this duo didn’t attend the Ayodhya temple consecration ceremony when the whole nation queued up to the Ram Lalla temple”, the union Home minister remarked and questioned the people if they would vote for the duo.

Listing out the numerous welfare schemes launched by Prime minister Narendra Modi for the upliftment of various sections of society in the last decade, Amit Shah predicted that the BJP will once again form the govt at the centre for the third consecutive term on a trot with more than 400 seats.

Stating that Modi means security and progress, Amit Shah ridiculed the INDIA alliance to first tell the people who their Prime ministerial candidate will be. Will it be Sharad Pawar or Mamta Banerjee or MK Stalin or Rahul Gandhi”, Amit Shah questioned.

Former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who spoke later, exuded confidence that the NDA alliance will sweep a majority of seats in the 2024 elections and form the govt’s both in AP as well as at the centre.
