NEW DELHI: Participating in the Brics NSAs ' meeting in St Petersburg , NSA Ajit Doval spoke about modern security challenges, including in the digital domain, and terrorism, calling for joint efforts within the Brics framework to address these issues.
Doval, who had a brief interaction with Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi on the margins, also called for reform of multilateralism saying existing structures are no longer capable of handling modern threats and sensitive issues of common concerns.
Govt sources confirmed Doval will have a formal bilateral meeting with Wang on Thursday. He is expected to address the LAC situation in eastern Ladakh and seek early completion of the disengagement process, and restoration of peace and tranquillity along the border areas, to ensure the relationship can become normal.
The Brics NSAs also reviewed pressing security challenges facing the globe. The three-day conclave is taking place ahead of the annual summit of the grouping in Kazan on Oct 22-24.
