NEW DELHI: Mounting a scathing attack on Congress , National Conference , and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday accused them of putting stones in the youths of Jammu and Kashmir.

PM Modi, who was in Srinagar a day after the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly election, addressing a rally said the situation of the region has changed since the NDA government came into power, the prime minister said that there are no reports of fires in schools; instead, there are reports of new schools, new colleges, AIIMS, medical colleges and IITs being built.

"...Our youth were away from studies outside the schools and colleges and these three families (Congress, NC, and PDP) were happy by putting stones in their hands. These people have ruined the future of our children for their benefit. Liberating Jammu and Kashmir from terror and terrorism. Every force conspiring against Jammu and Kashmir must be defeated. Providing employment opportunities to the youth here, this is Modi's intention, Modi's promise," he said.

"I will not let another generation of ours be destroyed at the hands of these 3 families. That's why I am sincerely working towards restoring peace here. Today, schools and colleges are running smoothly throughout Jammu and Kashmir. Children have pens, books and laptops in their hands. Today, there are no reports of fires in schools; instead, there are reports of new schools, new colleges, AIIMS, medical colleges and IITs being built," he added.

The prime minister also accused the three families of creating division and said that the BJP government is uniting everyone and bridging the distance between 'Dil' and Delhi. He said that the selfish politics of three families (NC, Congress, and PDP) made Kashmiri Hindus homeless and Sikh families were also oppressed.

"Our Kashmiri Pandits have played a huge role in nurturing and promoting Kashmiriyat. But the selfish politics of three families made Kashmiri Hindus homeless from their homes, our Sikh families were also oppressed. These three families and their people remained partners in every oppression committed against the Kashmiri Hindus and Sikh brothers and sisters here. Congress-NC-PDP just did the division. But BJP is uniting everyone. We are bridging the distance between 'Dil' and Delhi," he said.

During the rally, PM Modi said that the political agenda of NC, Congress , and PDP is to deprive the people of Jammu and Kashmir of their legitimate rights, youths were not allowed to come out against these "three families." He also said that several youths were deprived of their education because of the three families of Congress, NC, and PDP.

"...The three families here consider the politics of Jammu and Kashmir as their fiefdom. They do not want to let anyone else come forward except their own family. Otherwise, why did they stop the elections of Panchayat, BDC and DDC? They thought that through this, new people would emerge in politics and challenge their family regime. The result of their selfishness was that the youth here started losing faith in democracy. They felt that whether they cast their vote or not, these three families would definitely come to power. So much has changed now as compared to the earlier circumstances," he said.

The prime minister added," The campaign is going on till late night today, today people are celebrating democracy. The youth here have developed confidence that only their vote can bring about real change. There was a time when coming to Lal Chowk, hoisting the tricolour here was a life-threatening task. For years people here were afraid of coming to Lal Chowk. But now the picture has changed. Now the markets of Srinagar are full of the splendour of both Eid and Diwali. Now, Lal Chowk market remains bustling till late evening, with tourists coming from all over the country and the world."
