Sundar Pichai , the CEO of Alphabet and Google , has completed 20 years at the company. To mark the occasion, Pichai shared a message on Instagram , reflecting on his 20-year journey, saying that a lot has changed since he joined the company.
Pichai joined Google on April 26, 2004 as a product manager. He said that a lot has changed in terms of technology and the number of people who use the company’s products.
“April 26, 2004 was my first day at Google. A lot has changed since then - technology, the number of people who use our products … my hair. What hasn’t changed - the thrill I get from working at this amazing company. 20 years in, I’m still feeling lucky,” he said in a post on Instagram.

Pichai, 51, joined Google in 2004 when he was probably 31-year-old. He has been the main force behind the company’s key products, including for the company, including Google Chrome, Android , Google+, Maps, Search and Ads.
Impressing Google co-founder Larry Page with his talent, Pichai quickly became a trusted employee and was promoted as Google's CEO in 2015.
“Sundar has a tremendous ability to see what's ahead and mobilise teams around the super important stuff. We very much see eye-to-eye when it comes to the product, which makes him the perfect fit for this role,” Page said in a memo announcing Pichai's promotion.
Pichai also became Alphabet’s CEO after Page and President Sergey Brin stepped away from the company, saying that “Alphabet and Google no longer need two CEOs and a President."
