GTA 6 maker Take-Two Interactive 's CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed questions regarding the 'record-breaking' success of the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer during the company's recent earnings call. He also talked about why the game has been delayed. Zelnick attributed the anticipation for the upcoming game to the popularity of its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V.

Take-Two Interactive CEO is 'seeking perfection'
In an interview with IGN, Zelnick said that GTA 6 needed more polishing.

“As we get closer to completion of a title that’s seeking perfection, the needs or lack thereof, for continued polish become clear,” Zelnick said.

“In this case there was an opportunity with a small amount of incremental time, we thought, to make sure Rockstar Games achieves its creative vision with no limitations. And I supported of course that approach,” he added.

Zelnick explained that the prolonged period since a new mainline Grand Theft Auto title, coupled with the continued active engagement with the existing games, has created significant anticipation among consumers. He drew a comparison to the James Bond film franchise.

"So, you know, everyone anticipates the next James Bond movie, but there’s nothing in between. You know, what you what you have in your head is what you saw the last time around. In this case, everyone anticipates the next iteration of Grand Theft Auto, and lots of people are currently engaged today with Grand Theft Auto," he added.

GTA 6 trailer garnered 475 million views in 24 hours
Regarding the record-breaking trailer views, Zelnick stated that the 475 million views within 24 hours signify more than just positive reception of the trailer itself.

"Obviously, 475,000,000 trailers in twenty four hours tells you something. It's not just that, wow, that was a great trailer. It tells you something more than that," Zelnick said. Grand Theft Auto VI's trailer showcased Vice City and dual protagonists Lucia and Jason.
