The executive staff of the team has expressed a great deal of interest in Jason Kidd , the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. However, according to other sources, the organisation is also showing interest in Darvin Ham , the former head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers . Additionally, as per the reports, the Phoenix Suns is doing the same.

Shortly after formally naming Mike Brown as their new head coach, the New York Knicks expressed interest in Darvin Ham. Both the NBA icons have previously collaborated on the Los Angeles Lakers coaching staff in 2011-12.
After leading the team to the 2023 Western Conference Finals during his two seasons as head coach, Darvin Ham is now a member of the Milwaukee Bucks staff. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks now see an opportunity to add him to their coaching staff. According to the Stein Line:

Darvin Ham, who was let go by the Los Angeles Lakers after the 2023-24 season, coached the team for two seasons. He has a 90-74 record and a 9-12 postseason record during his two years as head coach.
During his first year, he also contributed to the team's run to the Western Conference Finals. Now, many NBA players think that he still has a lot to offer. Meanwhile, Darvin Ham and Mike Budenholzer, who was just appointed head coach of the Phoenix Suns, have previously collaborated. Given their close bond, he might be a great fit in Phoenix.
However, he is more inclined to join the New York Knicks. As per SNY TV’s Ian Begley, he might take over for Tom Thibodeau, who was fired in June. Darvin Ham would be an interesting candidate for assistant coach because of his huge coaching experience. New York may have a better chance of winning a championship the next season if it hires more seasoned coaches.
