Matt Roy and his wife Linsey have received overwhelming support from fans and the hockey community. Linsey’s openness shines a light on the emotional pain many silently endure. By sharing their story, they hope to break the silence around miscarriage and bring comfort to others going through similar grief.
“Earlier this week we said goodbye to our baby girl,” Linsey wrote. “A very surprising, unexpected and incredibly wanted natural pregnancy..met with an equally shocking and devastating loss. I choose to share our family growing journey in hopes it helps even one person feel less alone. Less isolated. Less pain. Loss after living children still sucks. It hurts not being able to give Nico this sibling we were hoping for."
They further added, “We are so sooo grateful to have Nico, and while he fills our hearts with so much joy, this pain also stings, leaves a hole in our hearts, and gives us another angel up above.”
Messages of sympathy and support have poured in for the Roy family during this heartbreaking time. Among those reaching out were the wives of Washington Capitals players John Carlson and Nic Dowd, showing solidarity and compassion for Matt and Linsey as they navigate their loss. “I’m so sorry for your loss sending you my love,” Gina Carlson wrote. “You’re so strong for sharing I’m so sorry,” added Paige Dowd.
Losing their baby was deeply painful, but sadly, it wasn’t the first time Matt and Linsey Roy have faced such heartbreak. Linsey experienced a miscarriage back in October 2023 as well. At the time, she opened up on social media, sharing a heartfelt message about the emotional toll of the loss and the deep impact it had on their lives.
