Racing car driver, Asian jr boxing champ banned by Nada

New Delhi: The National Anti-Doping Agency (Nada) has banned several athletes, including a racing car driver, a leading woman marathoner and an Asian junior boxing champion , for various drug-related offences . The anti-doping disciplinary panel (ADDP) imposed sanctions ranging from three months to five years of ineligibility.

The doping issue has extended to Indian motorsport as well. Chennai-based racing car driver Anirudha Arvind receiving a three-month suspension under articles 2.1 and 2.2 of Nada’s rules. These articles pertain to the “presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolites in an athlete’s sample or the use or attempted use of a prohibited substance or method”. His suspension commenced on Aug 22 last month.

Arvind has secured multiple wins, and podium finishes in the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Car Racing Championships and previously competed in the MRF Saloons and Formula LGB 1300 categories.


In boxing, Rohit, who won gold at the Asian junior championships in Dubai in 2021, was suspended for two years by the panel, effective Aug 23, 2025, after his urine sample tested positive for an anabolic steroid. Rohit regularly represented Chandigarh in domestic boxing competitions.


In athletics, Maharashtra’s Reshma Dattu Kevate was banned for four years for her first-time doping offence, with her period of ineligibility backdated to May 21, 2024. Reshma is an accomplished cross-country athlete, having won over 50 marathons and secured podium positions in several of the country’s prestigious half marathons.

The ADDP also suspended Haryana and Services athlete Summy for two years, with the 21-year-old’s suspension starting from Oct 14, 2024. Summy represented India at the World Athletics Under-20 championships in Nairobi in 2022 and won a silver at the National Federation Cup meet in Bhubaneswar the following year, achieving a personal best of 53.18 in the heats.

National-level kabaddi player Mohit Nandal was banned for four years, effective Aug 14, 2025. Additionally, weightlifters Simranjeet Kaur and Deepak Singh received bans of five and four years, respectively, with their periods of ineligibility commencing from Aug last.
