NEW DELHI: Paris Saint-Germain clinched their record-extending 12th Ligue 1 title on Sunday, despite not playing, as second-placed AS Monaco suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Olympique Lyonnais .
PSG, who had missed the opportunity to secure the title on Saturday after a 3-3 draw with Le Havre, now have an unassailable lead of 12 points over Monaco with only three games left to play.
Monaco's loss to Lyon marked their first defeat in nine matches, highlighting PSG's continued dominance in French football . The match started with a rapid goal from Monaco's Wissam Ben Yedder , who tapped in Takumi Minamino's cross at the back post within the first 20 seconds.
