With this emphatic win — their first-ever Test triumph at Edgbaston — Shubman Gill and his team levelled the five-match series 1-1.

This marks Gill’s maiden victory as India’s Test captain, having taken over leadership duties after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement ahead of the series.
England, resuming the day at 72 for 3, slumped to 153 for 6 by lunch as India’s bowlers kept up relentless pressure. The hosts never looked in contention to chase down the imposing 608-run target and were eventually bowled out in the second session.
