Nirjala Ekadashi 2025: Significance
According to the Hindu Scriptures, Nirjala Ekadashi holds a great religious and spiritual significance. Since Nirjala Ekadashi falls during Shukla Paksha, it is also referred to as Jyeshtha Shukla Ekadashi. Nirjala Vrat fast is observed without food or water. On Dwadashi Tithi, devotees are only permitted to drink water after breaking their fast. One of the most rigorous and revered fasts is Nirjala Ekadashi. Devotees pray to Lord Vishnu and observe this fast with a immense devotion and pure dedication.
Nirjala Ekadashi 2025: Story
It is believed in Hindu scriptures that one of the Pandavas, Bhima once made the decision to fast on all Ekadashis, but he was unable to control his hunger and went to the sage Vyasa for the advice then he suggested him to observe Nirjala Ekadashi Vrat in order to get benefit of all 24 Ekadashis that occur throughout the year. For this reason, this Ekadashi is also known as Bhimsen Ekadashi, Bhima Ekadashi, and Pandava Ekadashi.
Nirjala Ekadashi 2025: Rituals
1. After cleansing, devotees begin their puja rituals early in the morning.
2. Set an idol of Lord Vishnu on a wooden plank.
3. Offer flowers, homemade sweets, chandan tilak, and light a diya with desi ghee.
4. Tulsi Patra must be offered to Lord Vishnu by devotees.
5. Devotees offer prayers to the Lord before beginning their day.
6. Chant Shri Krishna Maha Mantra throughout the day.
7. On Dwadashi Tithi, the next day, they break their fast during Parana hour and eat and drink.
