Dhumavati Mata is one of the Dus Mahavidhyas who is worshipped widely by a large number of devotees. This day holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. Dhumavati Jayanti 2024: Significance


Dhumavati Jayanti has an immense religious and spiritual significance in Hindu religion as this day is dedicated to worship Goddess Dhumavati. On this day, Goddess Dhumavati, who is among Dus Mahavidhyas, was born and people celebrate this day with great happiness and joy. They offer prayers to Goddess Durga and perform various puja rituals to please the Goddess. It is believed that Goddess Dhumavati is worshipped to attain siddhis or powers and she is mainly worshipped by sadhus and tantriks.

Who is Goddess Dhumavati?


Goddess Dhumavati represents as a widow who looks pale and she is wearing dirty clothes. She rides in a horseless chariot with the flag depicting a Crow of Death on it. Her eyes are red with fire like the bright Sun rays. She is dehydrated and hungry, which makes her irrational and intimidating to all of her followers' foes, whom she blesses and sets free.

Pradosha Kal is the time after sunset till dark and night ending with full sun rise when her existence comes. She lives at the home of poor people as Alakshmi (Goddess of poverty). She is linked to patients' illnesses or unhealthful conditions and also creates various disruptions that affect both the physical and emotional facets of life.

Dhumavati Jayanti 20245: Puja Rituals

1. Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath before starting puja rituals.
2. Clean the house and puja room.
2. Take a wooden plank and place an idol of Goddess Durga.
3. First light a diya with desi ghee, offer red flowers and then offer bhog prasad of Halwa, Chana and Poori.
4. Recite Durga Saptashati, chant devi mantras, and then perform aarti.
5. In the evening also, repeat the same procedure again and then break your fast with sattvik food.
