JIND: "This kind of situation is not a new thing for me during 50 years of my politics ", said former union minister Birender Singh whose son and incumbent BJP MP from Hisar seat didn’t get ticket from Congress party .

Notably, Brijendra Singh earlier resigned from his seat and BJP party Agniveer, farmers and wrestlers’ issues and joined Congress party. Brijender Singh who turned politician after resigning from IAS prior to 2019 Lok sabha elections and became BJP MP from Hisar seat.

He has been claiming from Hisar seat strongly after quitting the saffron party. But a list of eight candidates was issued by the Congress party late at night on Thursday which gave a surprise to Singh’s family.

Talking to TOI, Birender Singh said that "I have faced such a situation three times in my political career. There was a time when Congress won election in 1991 and I was heading the party in Haryana . But suddenly I got a surprise and didn’t get a CM post. Similarly, I have faced the same situation which is being experienced by my son now. Politics is a game of uncertainty and one doesn't know what will happen next. However, my ideology matches with the Congress party and will remain in this party. I have rejoined the party to strengthen it and tickets don't matter for us," he added.

Moreover, Birender Singh said that it was an exception in the nation that a sitting BJP MP resigned from his post and joined Congress party. Brijendra Singh has met with Rahul Gandhi for two three times after quitting BJP and both are well known to each other and all was well.

"I can’t explain the situation why Congress refused to field him but top brass would have taken the decision on their grounds but I don’t have an answer for the move. However, I will campaign for Congress candidates in the state if invited by the party leaders," added Singh while replying to queries with laughter in a conversation of around five minute over phone call.

It is pertinent to mention that several farmers’ bodies have been opposing the candidature of Brijendra Singh after he wished to contest election from Hisar seat from Congress party.
