BJP-led NDA won't cross 230, INDIA bloc to form govt on June 4: Arvind Kejriwal

Send Push
NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday launched a piercing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi , claiming that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will fall short of the majority in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls paving the way for the Opposition INDIA bloc to form the government on June 4.

Speaking from AAP headquarters a day after receiving bail in an alleged liquor policy case, the Delhi CM shot off a fiery salvo against PM Modi and the ruling BJP, alleging that the Prime Minister is on the mission of 'one nation one leader' and that if he is voted to power for the third time, top opposition leaders will be behind bars.

"In last 20 hours after release from jail, I talked to poll experts and people and got to know the BJP is not going to form the government," said the Delhi CM.

"Their (NDA) government is not being formed after June 4…Their seats are decreasing everywhere in Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar, UP, Delhi, Karnataka, West Bengal and Jharkhand. It is also being speculated that they are getting 220-230 seats. INDIA government is being formed at the centre," he added.

'PM left no stone unturned to crush AAP'

Kejriwal alleged PM Modi left no stone unturned to crush the Aam Admi Party as he sent four top AAP leaders to jail.

"No other party has been harassed to this extent in 75 years. The Prime Minister is saying that he is fighting corruption but all the thieves are in his party. 10 days ago the one who was said to have committed a scam after they made them join their party was made the Deputy CM and Minister...I want to say to PM Modi that If you want to fight corruption then learn from Kejriwal," says Delhi CM Kejriwal.

"After the formation of the government in Delhi, I myself dismissed one of my ministers and sent him to jail. In Punjab, we sent a minister to jail. You include all the thieves in your party and send Kejriwal to jail, this is not a fight against corruption," he added.

PM Modi will jail Mamata, Stalin if BJP wins: Kejriwal

Kejriwal claimed that all opposition leaders, including his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and RJD leader Tejashvi Yadav, will be in jail if the BJP wins the national elections.

The Delhi CM claimed that PM Modi is on a mission of 'one nation one leader', under which every opposition leader will be arrested.

"You include all the thieves in your party and send Kejriwal to jail, this is not a fight against corruption... By arresting Kejriwal, they have given the message that if Kejriwal is arrested then they will arrest anyone. The name of this mission is 'One Nation One Leader," Kejriwal added.

Will Amit Shah be next PM? Asks Kejriwal

Pointing out the BJP's practise of discharging leaders above the age of 75 of political responsibilities, the AAP convenor asked if PM Modi, who will turn 75 on September 17, will step down and hand over the his position to Union home minister Amit Shah.

"These people ask INDIA bloc about their face. I ask BJP who will be their PM? Modi ji is turning 75 on September 17 next year. He had made the rule that people aged 75 will be retired. They retired LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sumitra Mahajan," said CM Kejriwal.

"He will retire next year. He is seeking votes for making Amit Shah the prime minister. Will Shah fulfill Modiji''s guarantee?" he asked.

Soon after Kejriwal's remark, Amit Shah retorted to his claims, saying, "Nothing as such is mentioned in BJP's constitution".

"I want to say this to Arvind Kejriwal and company and INDI alliance that nothing as such is mentioned in BJP's constitution. PM Modi is only going to complete this tenure and PM Modi will continue to lead the country in future. There is no confusion in BJP," said ex-BJP chief Amit Shah.

BJP chief JP Nadda also took on Arvind Kejriwal over his "PM will retire next year" claim, saying "INDI alliance has panicked after realising their failure in the summer polls".

Accusing the opposition of "misleading and confusing" the country, the BJP chief added: "They are looking for a way out by making an excuse of Modi Ji's age".

"Modi Ji is getting the immense blessings of the people from East to West, North to South. They have neither any policy nor any program in front of the Prime Minister. Now they are looking for a way out by making an excuse of Modi Ji's age. There is no such provision regarding age anywhere in the constitution of the BJP... Modi ji is our leader and will continue to lead us in the future too," Nadda said.

'Yogi Adityanth to be replaced as CM'

Accusing top BJP leadership of "finishing" the politics of LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Vasundhara Raje, ML Khattar, Raman Singh, Kejriwal claimed next in line is Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who will be replaced within 2 months post the Lok Sabha results.

Promises statehood for Delhi

Kejriwal claimed that AAP, being part of the INDIA bloc government, will give statehood status to Delhi and the lieutenant governor will belong to the people of the national capital unlike the current LG "who comes from Gujarat".
