Eid grazing: Bite-sized delights for festive feasting
Eid celebrations often involve guests visiting multiple homes, indulging in various feasts, it's thoughtful to present a selection of delectable, bite-sized food options. “Bite-sized food items allow guests to savor the rich flavors of Eid without feeling overwhelmed, ensuring they can enjoy the culinary offerings at each stop. Consider serving delightful mini kebab paratha, grilled chicken skewers, along with crispy mini empanadas, both sweet and savory samosas, and kunafa stuffed medjool dates. These curated, small portions not only tickle the taste buds, offering a diverse culinary experience, but also minimize food wastage, allowing everyone to partake in the festive spirit without feeling overly full,” says chef Reetu Uday Kugaji, culinary expert and chef consultant.
Balancing Freshness and Convenience
Setting an Eid table for a day-long celebration requires strategic planning and food preservation techniques. “Begin with a foundation of room-temperature friendly appetizers like bite-sized savory samosas, sewai, dahi vada, and replenish as needed,” says Hyderabad-based chef and event curator Dharam Singh. “As the day progresses, transition to slow-cooked curries like Korma And Rogan Josh, that can be warmed up easily,” he added. According chef Manzilat Fatima, sticking to dishes that can be cooked and served in minutes should be given priority. “Parathas, shami kebab and sewai should be on your list. It is logical to curate a menu keeping in mind that the guests are full and tired,” she added.
