Not many know that actor Sikandar Kher, son of veteran actress Kirron Kher, began his film journey behind the camera as an assistant director. He was part of the crew for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus 'Devdas', where he was assigned to capture behind-the-scenes moments of the iconic film. The actor has now shared a memory involving Shah Rukh Khan on the shooting set.
In a conversation with Tape A Tale, Sikandar walked down memory lane, recounting his time on the grand sets of Devdas, which featured a powerhouse cast including Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, and Kirron Kher herself. He recalled wanting to film the making of Devdas due to the immense buzz surrounding it, noting that Bhansali’s films naturally generate hype without any extra effort.
Sikandar mentioned how he faced difficulty sourcing equipment — until help came from an unexpected place. “I was struggling to procure a handycam, and Shah Rukh gave me his own. It was a very cool setup; it had various lenses and a tripod, and I ended up shooting 22 hours of footage. In the scene where Shah Rukh is breaking the bottles, he cut his finger, and I went in with my camera using night vision and captured that footage,” he said.

Sikandar also praised Shah Rukh’s generosity and collaborative spirit on set. “I have had firsthand experience of watching him work, and he is the most giving actor I have seen. From what I have seen and heard from people, he is the most amazing person to be on set with. He is so secure within himself that he will even give away his own lines just to make the scene work,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his upcoming film King, which is expected to be a high-energy action drama with an emotional core. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film will feature Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan in key roles.
Originally planned for a March 2025 shoot, production has now been rescheduled to begin in June 2025. According to insiders, Siddharth Anand is revising the screenplay to ensure that King lives up to — and even surpasses — the cinematic benchmarks set by Pathaan and the YRF Spy Universe.
Set to be filmed across India and Europe, the movie is slated for a late 2026 release. SRK has reportedly described the project as “a story he has wanted to tell for years”.
