Indian-origin cinematographer Rishabh Dudhedia ventures into Hollywood

Rishabh Utkarsha Dudhedia, an Indian-origin cinematographer, has decided to break free from the trodden career paths followed by most Indians and pursue his passion for filmmaking. Hailing from Shirpur, a quaint town in Maharashtra, he grew up viewing the world in a completely unique way. Colors would pop out more vividly, and landscapes would be illuminated with his imagination when he viewed them. He soon realised that other people had different perspectives on this world. He resolved to showcase the beauty of the world as he saw it through his camera. Self-experimentation and a desire to elevate his skills led him to master various camera and lighting equipment, enabling him to bring his visions to the screen. Audiences loved his works of art, as evidenced by the numerous award festivals where his films were selected. “I greatly admire this art form as it helps me show this world from a different perspective,” Rishabh reflects.

From documentaries, short films, and passion projects to big-budget Hollywood productions, Rishabh’s versatile projects have equipped him with a commendable set of adaptable skills, more than capable of capturing the hearts of audiences worldwide. He says, “My work as a director of photography enables me to express my creative vision to the fullest extent. This has emboldened me to traverse uncharted territories in this field and gives me the courage to experiment with my art.”

Coming from a family of medical professionals, his career choice was completely uncharted territory for his parents. But their steadfast trust in his abilities and unconditional love gave him the courage to venture into this new field. “Being an only child, it was difficult for them when I traveled to the United States to pursue my dreams,” Rishabh shares. “It would not have been possible had it not been for their blessings and faith in my abilities.”

These close bonds with his family and his Indian cultural values create a beautiful harmony between art and timeless human emotions. Rishabh said, “Observing people in the United States made me realize that humans are not that different across borders and made me appreciate the universality of human relationships.”
