Gaurav aka Toshu on quitting Anupamaa

Send Push
TV show Anupamaa is set to take a time leap of 15 years and with that several faces from the original cast will exit Rajan Shahi’s daily soap to make way for the new actors. Manish Naggdev has been finalised as the new Toshu (Paritosh Shah), who will take over from Gaurav Sharma after the leap.

Gaurav shares, “I feel it’s time to move on. I don’t think I can convincingly play the father of a 21-year-old and can’t afford to take on roles that are older than my actual age. I remember being typecast in negative roles after playing one, and if I play a father, I might end up being stuck in that age bracket. I shared my concerns with the team, and I’m grateful they understood my predicament and accepted my decision. I’ve had a wonderful experience working with the production house and I will definitely miss working with them. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Anupamaa have given me so much, and I hope to collaborate with the production team soon.”

Ask him what advice he would give the new Toshu, and he replies, “I made sure to thoroughly study the character. It’s important to grasp the nuances of a role, but it’s equally crucial not to imitate the previous actor.”
