Earlier this morning, Dharma Productions took to its official IG handle to announce their untitled movie, based on the life of lawyer and statesman C. Sankaran Nair. The announcement was shared with the caption, "Starring Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan & Ananya Panday - this untitled film is releasing in cinemas on 14th March, 2025. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi." Take a look...

According to reports, the narrative revolves around Nair's significant battle against the British Empire, particularly in a case concerning the infamous Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

In this cinematic venture, Ananya Panday joins the cast as a budding lawyer, sharing the screen with Akshay Kumar. Sources revealed to Bollywood Hungama that Kumar portrays a senior and esteemed lawyer, while Panday's character seeks guidance from him, establishing a mentor-protege relationship devoid of any romantic elements.

The film delves into the historical and legal complexities surrounding the Jallianwala Bagh incident, chronicling the remarkable efforts and challenges faced by C. Sankaran Nair in his pursuit of justice against British rule.

Last year, the cast finished a long shooting schedule in Delhi, post which they went to Rewari district in Haryana to wrap up some major sequences. According to reports, the actors shot at the Rewari railway station and Rewari Railway Heritage Museum.

This apart, the actors have shot at popular locations including Red Fort, Sundar Nursery and some colleges in the North Campus area as well.

Earlier, during the film's announcement, Karan Johar expressed his excitement, stating, “I am extremely excited and honored to support a film that will unveil the legendary courtroom battle fought by Sankaran Nair against the British Raj, revealing the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Sankaran Nair’s courage ignited the freedom struggle nationwide and stands as a testament to the power of fighting for truth.” "Shankara" will be directed by debutant filmmaker Karan Singh Tyagi.
