Ranchi: The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, celebrated its 16th Foundation Day on Saturday, with Chief Justice of Jharkhand high court and chancellor of NUSRL, justice M S Ramachandra Rao, as chief guest.
Rao emphasized the growing importance of research-driven legal education. "Deep legal research and expert involvement are essential to navigate today's evolving legal and economic challenges," he said. He also praised NUSRL students for their notable achievements in litigation, judiciary, and civil services, highlighting their growing presence at national and international platforms.
Vice chancellor Prof Ashok R Patil welcomed the dignitaries and reflected on the university's journey, noting improvements in the NIRF rankings and the goal of reaching among India's top ten law schools. "Regular guidance from justice Rao, justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, and advocate general Shri Rajeev Ranjan has been instrumental in NUSRL's progress," he said.
Advocate general Shri Rajeev Ranjan encouraged students to explore career opportunities in district and sessions courts for a holistic understanding of law and practice.
During the celebrations, 35 students and 13 teams were felicitated for their achievements at the national and international levels. Additionally, 15 students received merit and sports scholarships. Faculty and staff members who have served for over a decade were also honoured.
On the occasion, Chief Justice Rao inaugurated a 200 MW solar power plant and a new powerhouse, increasing the university's solar capacity to 300 MW and strengthening campus infrastructure.
