Agartala: Tripura govt has allocated Rs 1,000 crore for the development of educational infrastructure in rural areas under various schemes, aiming to position the state as an education hub, said chief minister Manik Saha.
A total of Rs 474.81 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of buildings and related facilities in 63 rural schools under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). While two schools have already been completed, the remaining projects are underway.
"Under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme, construction work valued at over Rs 100 crore is in progress across 14 rural schools," the CM said. Additionally, Rs 33.82 crore has been approved under the Special Assistance Capital Scheme for the development of infrastructure in six schools, he added.
A total of Rs 159.36 crore has been allocated for infrastructure improvements in 62 schools under the Special Assistance for Capital Investment Scheme. Of these, 15 schools have already seen their construction work completed," he said.
Ongoing efforts include the construction of additional classrooms, boys' and girls' toilets, facilities for children with special needs, ramps and handrails, library rooms equipped with furniture, drinking water facilities, computer rooms, science and biology labs, laboratory equipment, as well as minor and major repairs. To date, Rs 188 crore has been utilised for these improvements, the CM said.
