Aizawl: Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) online portal was hacked by suspected hackers operating from Pakistan for around one hour on Thursday night, MPSC officials said on Friday.
The officials told TOI that the portal is crucial for aspirants of state civil service, police service, finance and information service, as well as Group B level services. It facilitates online application form submission, fee payments, admit card downloads, and result access for various govt recruitment exams in Mizoram.
Officials of the state information technology & communication department said the online portal was rectified and restored within less than an hour.
"Except for some posts appearing on the screen, no serious damage or loss of data was detected," the officials said. The words appearing in the portal were written in English, glorifying Pakistan, and the intention to attack India was also mentioned.
They said there have been a series of attempts late to hack the govt official domain gov.in after India-Pakistan conflict and that all the state govt online portals and websites facing the possibility of being attacked were being digitally shielded.
The official websites of the state govt are being upgraded with state-of-the-art servers, they added.
Referring to the hacking of MPSC online portal, chief minister Lalduhoma assured the public that the site has been swiftly and securely restored.
The CM called for vigilance among all users, especially those managing govt sites, and stressed the importance of cyber security awareness.
