Indore: A 40-year-old home guard soldier was killed and one was injured when a motorcycle collided with an e-rickshaw near Bajna Bus Stand in Ratlam on Tuesday night. The two soldiers were returning from a family function in Thikriya village near Bajna.
The deceased man was identified as Mangilal, 40, a resident of Rajeshwari Colony (Home Guard Colony). His colleague, Rajesh Khati, sustained injuries and was admitted to a nearby private hospital. Both were returning to Ratlam when Mangilal's motorcycle, reportedly driven by Rajesh, collided with an e-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that Mangilal died on the spot. He was in civilian clothes at the time, while Rajesh was in uniform. The e-rickshaw driver fled the scene immediately after the crash.
Upon receiving the accident report, sub-inspector Devilal Patidar and ASI Murli Makwana from DD Nagar police station rushed to the scene and arranged for the injured to be taken to the hospital. Mangilal was declared dead by doctors, and his body was later sent to the Medical College for postmortem examination on Wednesday morning.
The police said that a search for the e-rickshaw driver involved in the collision is underway.
