Lucknow: A Dubai-Kathmandu flight carrying 151 passengers and six crew members made am emergency landing at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) Lucknow on Wednesday morning after its pilot flashed low fuel message to the Air Traffic Control.
The Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft landed at Lucknow airport around 9.40am and after refuelling departed for Kathmandu at 10.17 am and reached the Nepali capital at 11.14am.
The aircraft was holding over Nepal airspace when pilots squawked 7700 (to communicate with ATC regarding emergencies or abnormal circumstances).
The flight made at least five orbits some 50km south of Kathmandu above Nijgadh as part of delay holding before squawking, and finally flew to CCSIA after ATC clearance, said a source.
"It was not immediately clear why the aircraft was compelled to hover for an extended period in Nepal airspace, though inclement weather might have been a factor," added the source.
Airline leaves luggage at Delhi airport
Several passengers on a connecting flight from Bhopal to Lucknow via Delhi were left incensed on Tuesday night after their air carrier left their luggage at New Delhi airport. They complained that while the flight from Bhopal to Delhi was delayed by around 110 minutes, the Delhi to Lucknow journey also took 55 minutes extra to arrive. And when the passengers finally landed in Lucknow, their luggage was missing. The airline staff assured passengers that their luggage would be delivered to their doorstep as soon as possible.
