Indore: A man, who was externed from the district, and his two family members were arrested on Wednesday, and stolen goods valued at approximately Rs 8 lakh were recovered from their possession.
The team of DCP Vinod Meena arrested a habitual offender and two of his family members involved in multiple burglary cases. The police recovered stolen gold and silver ornaments worth approximately Rs 8 lakh, along with Rs 5,000 cash.
Azad Nagar police station in-charge Tilak Karole formed a special team. With the support from beat officers, the intelligence unit and the use of technical surveillance and CCTV footage, the team arrested Sahil alias Bacha alias Bawar, 22, Shahnaz, 50, and Heena Pathan, 28, residents of the slum area of Noori Nagar under Azad Nagar area. The three allegedly conspired to carry out thefts with planning and division of roles. During the arrest, two sharp-edged knives used in the crimes were also seized.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in four burglary cases within the jurisdiction of Azad Nagar police station. These included a theft in Musakhedi, Teen Imli Chowk, North Musakhedi and the most recent in Prem Nagar, Musakhedi.
Further investigation revealed that Sahil alias Bacha, was externed from Indore and adjoining districts for a period of six months starting Dec 19, 2024, under the Madhya Pradesh State Security Act, 1990. Sahil also has a criminal history with a total of 20 cases registered against him, and the other family members also have a criminal background. The police are continuing their investigation and have initiated legal proceedings under relevant sections, including the Arms Act, for possession of weapons used in the crimes.
