Akhilesh asks govt to set up 6 military schools in UP

Lucknow: Lauding the Indian army for its bravery, capabilities and determination with which it executed Operation Sindoor , SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday urged govt to set up six new military schools in UP .

"We are proud of the Indian Army's valour," Akhilesh said, recalling the contributions of the Indian soldiers in securing the Indian borders while addressing cadres from various student and youth wings of the party. An alumnus of National Military School Dholpur himself, Akhilesh was all praise for the contribution of military schools in grooming the soldiers who form the core of Army.

Vice-Admiral AN Pramod, who briefed the media in Delhi on Sunday about how the Indian Navy mobilised its carrier battle group into the northern Arabian Sea in full combat readiness and a "decisive and deterrent posture", too is an alumnus of the National Military School, Dholpur.

Outlining the role of the Dholpur school in shaping soldiers, Akhilesh said this tradition started with India's independence and continues till date. He recalled how the training regime of this military academy instilled the spirit of "nation first" through its motto ‘Sheelam Param Bhushanam' which underlines that character is the highest virtue. Akhilesh recalled how his days on the campus instilled discipline and courage in him as well as countless other fellow Indians who had been to Dholpur military school.

"Uttar Pradesh is credited with the tradition of sending out many patriots including decorated freedom fighters. On the basis of this tradition, we urge the Centre to set up a military school each in Lucknow, Saharanpur, Kannauj, Etawah, Varanasi and Sant Kabir Nagar to give a befitting reply to those who dare to challenge the unity and integrity of our country," he said.

Akhilesh expressed hope that govt would consider his demands in the interest of the country. "I hope the government will announce setting up of new military schools in the state immediately," he said.

Among those present at the meeting were senior SP functionaries Rajendra Chaudhary, Dr Madhu Gupta and ST Hasan.
