CHENNAI: As a token of appreciation, Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on Thursday dined with more than 50 sanitary staffers in Kolathur assembly constituency who worked during the recent rain.
Stalin served chicken biriyani to the workers and later sat with them to have the food, which included fish as well. While having food, Stalin inquired with the workers about how it was in the last few days and whether the food was satisfactory.
After dining with the workers, Stalin distributed clothes, food items, house essentials, and groceries to them. He then inspected a medical camp at Balaji Nagar in Kolathur and subsequently inspected Venus Nagar, Thanikachalam Nagar, and Kathikeyan Salai, where he interacted with people.
Stalin told reporters that the floodwater had receded in the city. "If there is any waterlogging, we are removing it. We are receiving appreciation from all fronts. Those who are not able to digest our good work are criticising us, and we don't worry about this," he said.
Officials said 90% of the Thanikachalam Canal restoration work had been completed and the remaining would be finished in two months.
