VILLUPURAM: The Tindivanam all-women police on Wednesday arrested four youths on charges of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
The accused have been identified as M Murali, 23, J Dhanasekar, 20, his brother Tirunavukarasu, 21, and P Pragalathan, 21.
Police said the girl, a Class VIII student from a village near Tindivanam, was active on Instagram.
Four youths from the same village befriended her online. Each one of them convinced her to meet him in person. The girl claimed that all four youths sexually assaulted her when she met them in person.
The girl narrated the incidents when her mother confronted her about the sudden change in her behaviour and lifestyle.
Her mother lodged a complaint with the Tindivanam all-women police. The police booked the four under Pocso Act, 2012 and arrested them.
The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault.
