Prayagraj: Hundreds of members from City Congress and Yamunapar committee of Congress party gathered in large numbers near All Saint Cathedral in Civil Lines on Wednesday and raised slogans against the central govt and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), accusing them of misusing power.
The Enforcement Directorate filed a chargesheet in the special court on April 9, naming Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader Sam Pitroda in connection with National Herald case.
Following this, Congress launched a nationwide protest campaign against the ED.
Addressing the protestors, city president of the Congress party, Fuzail Hashmi, called the case politically motivated and unnecessarily prolonged, adding that the party has full faith in the judiciary.
Heavy police presence was observed outside the ED office in Civil Lines following the protest. tnn
