What Is 'FART' Team? Freedom Caucus' New Group Sparks Memes, Jokes

Republicans in the US Congress recently activated their Floor Action Response team to monitor any surprise resolution from their Democrat counterparts that could undermine their influence in the House. However, the acronym of the team - FART - caught on with netizens who took digs at it because of its similarity with the word 'fart'.

The job of the FART team members is to take turns to monitor that no unannounced resolutions undermining the House Freedom Caucus are passed in the House via unanimous consent. The decision to activate the FART team came in the wake of voting on key decisions on foreign aid at the House.

Earlier, some House Freedom Caucus members demanded Speaker Mike Johnson's removal from the House as the House votes on the key issues on foreign aid. They had several disagreements with the foreign-aid plan Johnson had proposed in the House, and they criticized it for its lack of border security measures and concerns over its impact on mounting national debt.

However, away from the serious side of the news, a lot of people poked fun at the acronym of the team. Several people jokes about it after Politico Congress reporter Olivia Beavers posted the news on X. Here are some of the comments on her post.

"Some of the caucus members are quite loud, and that stinks. However, others are silent but deadly," one user joked.

"I knew something stunk with that House "Freedom" Caucus," another said.

"Wait. FART is a real thing? This isn’t parody?!!🤣🤣🤣," wrote another.

"Actually, that’s not complete reporting, Olivia. I have a source that tells me it’s the Wrong Every Time Floor Action Response Team - WETFART The #WETFART team is a loud and slippery crew. Beware," journalist turned author Denver Riggleman said.
