Spanish Prosecutors Seek 2.5 Years Prison Sentence For Luis Rubiales Over Jenni Hermoso Kiss

Things could turn ugly for former Royal Spanish Football Federation President Luis Rubiales. Rubiales is currently being charged with sexual assault and coercion for kissing Jenni Hermoso in the FIFA Women’s World Cup final last year.
Spanish prosecutors are planning to execute a two and a half year prison sentence for Rubialses if he is found guilty. The 46-year-old was seen kissing Hermoso on the lips during the prize distribution ceremony in the FIFA World Cup Final.
It received severe criticism from all over the world and Rubiales was forced to resign from his post. Later Hermoso and other female Spanish footballers also came forward and insisted the kiss was unwanted and demeaning.
Rubiales was also suspended by FIFA but so far he has denied all the allegations claiming the kiss was mutual. Marta Durántez, the prosecutor, has also charged that Hermoso was forced to admit the kiss was consensual by former women's national team coach Jorge Vilda, Albert Luque, the RFEF's sporting director, and Rubén Rivera, the federation’s marketing chief.

The indictment also referred to that Hermoso was the subject of constant pressure and these three could also face 18 months.
Additionally, Durántez also demanded €50,000 (£42,843) to be paid by Rubiales and another €50,000 from Rivera, Vilda and Luque. A restraining order has also been requested which would prevent Rubialses from coming anywhere near 200 metres of Hermoso for the next seven and a half years.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the RFEF said that its management panel will look into any kind of contract which might arise from the suspicion due to the actions of Rubiales.
“All doubts that may arise from irregular conduct and decisions will be clarified through the audit.
“The RFEF distances itself from the actions of its former president and all those who may be involved and wishes to reiterate that this institution is more important than its figureheads.
“The Royal Spanish Football Federation will submit to the Management Committee calls for the implementation of a forensic audit on any type of contract that may be under suspicion due to the actions of its former president, Luis Rubiales.”
