In a heartwarming gesture, former India captain Sourav Ganguly has decided to meet the 12-year-old Adrish Haldar who traveled 115 km to meet him on his birthday. The class VII student had a heartbreak when he could not meet Ganguly, however, the legendary cricketer made his day by expressing his wish to meet the young fan. Ganguly celebrated his 52nd birthday on July 8. The veteran cricketer was in London on his birthday with his daughter Sana who studies in London."I learned about the little adventure and I am keen on meeting the young fan, said Ganguly, through his personal assistant. Meanwhile, Ganguly's office got in touch with Adrish's parents, asking them to bring the kid to Kolkata to meet Ganguly in the final week of the month."There are numerous requests each day but this is special. We want to respect the child's wish," said an official from Ganguly's office as quoted by Times Of India.The young fan wanted to play cricket professionally, however, his father asked him not to be too preoccupied with cricket. The young fan wanted to meet Ganguly so that he could convince his father to allow him to play cricket professionally. Adrish's father informed that the 12-year-old received pocket money to visit a fair but he saved the money and left the home to meet Ganguly, without informing his family after which a missing report was filed at the police station. The kid was found lost and hungry by a traffic sergeant Krishna Das who took him to the police station after which his father was contacted. The kid was upset over not meeting Ganguly but informed that the police treated him well and gave him briyani and rolls."My son is a big fan of Sourav Ganguly. Without informing us, he left home on Monday noon. After searching for him, we filed a missing report at the Koltupur police station. I am grateful to the traffic guard and the Behala police for returning my son," said Adrish's father.
