Ram Pothineni's Film Double iSmart Released Silently On OTT Platform

Ram Pothineni’s latest release Double iSmart made its OTT debut silently on Prime Video. The Puri Jagannadh directorial is streaming on OTT platform without much buzz. The film released on August 15 and has turned out to be a dam squib prompting an early OTT release.

In fact, Double iSmart came with great expectations given the blockbuster status of the first instalment but poor writing and weak story marred the film at the box office. It was one of the biggest disappointments of the year, but it’ll be interesting to see how the film fares on OTT. Box Office Collections Double iSmart started off well and on a promising note on the first of its release. The film minted Rs 7. 35 crore with Telugu contributing around Rs 6.9 crore and Hindi around 0.5 lakh. But the negative reviews have affected the film’s performance at the box office. Despite the long Independence Day holiday weekend, the film fails to perform. Double iSmart collected Rs 1.5 crore on the second day (Friday) and Rs 1.3 core on the third day (Saturday), and it subsequently it fizzled away.The film is about how a notorious criminal ‘Big Bull’ who has evaded capture for years, discovers his terminal brain tumor. Desperate to cheat death, he hires a rogue scientist to transfer his mind into another body - Ustaad Ismart Shankar.
